UDHAMPUR: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary along with officers of various departments carried out extensive inspection of Udhampur town and directed the officers for upgradation of civic amenities with special emphasis on sanitation, drainage, augmentation of water supply, interrupted power supply and upgradation of road infrastructure.
The DDC expressed deep concern over deteriorated condition of roads and lack of proper sanitation facilities in the town. PWD has been directed for immediate repair and filling as well as blacktopping of roads in town and also for removal of illegal encroachments along the roads. Meanwhile CEO Municipal Council has been directed for increasing the garbage collection points to 20 instead of existing eight and for increasing the number of dustbins, collection equipments and other facilities. Ward teams have been directed to be constituted for feasibility of door-to-door collection of garbage in Udhampur town. BRO will take up repair and upgradation of roads in collaboration with municipal committee ensuring proper drainage.
The DDC directed for development of four parks in town, construction of four community toilets, development of bus stand, auto stand and matador stand, provision of drinking water facilities for commuters and drivers at these stations, beautification of town and periphery, improvement in civic amenities, provision of sufficient parking space, preparation of DPRs for parking, water supply, power bank and removal of encroachments. It was decided that government will be approached for provision of Rs 3 Cr for upgradation of water supply in town.
