JAMMU: The District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu (Urban) on Tuesday hailed the elevation of Rahul Gandhi as President of All India Congress Committee (AICC).
During the programme held under the leadership of DCC President, Anil Chopra, the jubilant Congress workers distributed sweets.
While addressing the gathering, Anil Chopra on the behalf of the District, Block and Ward Committee Members congratulated Rahul Gandhi for his election as AICC President and hoped under his dynamic leadership Congress will work more effectively.
Chopra said “We are also thankful to Sonia Gandhi for her dynamic leadership who served the party for 19 years as President and led the party to victory twice in Lok Sabha elections besides sacrificing Prime Minister’s chair in the interest of country. She worked hard for the upliftment of poor and downtrodden sections of the society, besides continuously fighting for the empowerment of women in the society. We cannot forget her services for this country.”
Chopra criticised BJP for making various comments by their leaders on the election of Rahul Gandhi. He said that such parties should look into their own process of electioneering and added that BJP President is elected on the telephone call by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
