UDHAMPUR: DC Udhampur, Niraj Kumar on Tuesday convened a meeting to review the implementation and progress made under various schemes of Rural Development Department and other sectors.
At the outset, the DC reviewed the various schemes and projects of RDD such as SBM, MGNREGA, Project Rahat and Convergence plan.
Further, the meeting was informed that three tribal villages namely, Jar (Krimchi) in Block Udhampur, Matloa in Block Chenani and Swenti near Chanunta in Block Ramnagar from the district have been identified as Tribal Model villages.
The DC said that focus will be laid on providing all basic amenities to these villages so that the socio-economic conditions of the tribal population can be improved. Necessary skill development training would be provided to tribal youth to enable them to earn their living ,he added. He asked the RDD to prepare the DPRs of various developmental works that are required for the uplift of the tribal people. Stressing on imparting quality education to the children of these tribal villages, the DC directed the Education Department to prepare a list of all the drop-outs especially the girls and asked the concerned authorities to emphasize on the vocational training of the children. While discussing the Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana, the DC said that the scheme focuses on improving the quality of life in tribal areas like strengthening the network of education, providing sustainable employment and improving life of tribal population.
