DC seeks public cooperation in maintaining peace, harmony

KATHUA: In view of prevailing law and order situation in Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ajay Singh Jamwal on Friday convened a meeting of prominent citizens and sought their cooperation in maintaining peace and harmony in the district.
SSP Kathua Neeva Jain, ADDC Manmohan Singh, ASP Nisar Khan, Tehsildar Avtar Singh and other district officers, representatives of Sikh community and prominent citizens of Kathua town attended the meeting.
At the outset, the DC appealed to the citizens to maintain a vigil against trouble creators and not to believe in the rumours that may disturb peace and harmony in the area. He said Kathua is known as a peaceful district and people here have always exhibited high degree of tolerance, unity and communal harmony during testing times.
All the present citizens and members of Sikh community and other social organisations voiced their concern and anguish over the Jammu incident. The citizens assured to extend their full cooperation to the administration in maintaining peace and communal harmony.
Earlier the members of Sikh community presented a charter of demands to the DC. They urged the DC to take up their issues with the government.
The DDC assured the members of Sikh community that all their issues will be taken up with highest authority for further necessary action.
