SAMBA: District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh on Tuesday inaugurated three- week Entrepreneurship Development Programme, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute, JKEDI under Sher-i –Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for youth, SKEWPY. About 30 candidates got enrolled in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the main objective behind organising this programme is to motivate, train and provide finance to the educated unemployed youth willing to take up entrepreneurship as a professional career and create job opportunities not only for them but for others as well.
DDC called for a change in the mind set of the unemployed youth towards entrepreneurship to become job providers instead of job seekers.
He appreciated the staff of EDI for organising this programme and asked them to educate the unemployed youth by organising awareness programmes especially in the rural and far flung areas of the district.
Earlier, the District Officer JKEDI briefed about the different activities carried out in the district and said that more than 82 entrepreneurs have been financed till date and an amount of Rs 2.38 crore was provided as seed capital to these entrepreneurs in Seed Capital Fund Scheme and amount of about 50 lakh has been disbursed in Youth Start up Loan Scheme to the candidates.
Regional Director JKEDI also spoke on the occasion and briefed about the efforts of the Deparment in promoting Entrepreneurship in the District.
GM DIC, District Social Welfare Officer, CMO Samba and various district officers were present on the occasion.
Later, a meeting of Sarpanchs and Panchs was held regarding the implementation of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan an intensive sanitation/ cleanliness drive in the district.
ADDC Samba Vivek Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
ACD Samba, SDM Vijaypur, officers of the Rural Dev Department, Sarpanchs and Panchs were also present on the occasion.
