JAMMU: A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjeev Kumar directed respondents to comply with the directions issued on 14th March 2016 and 17th February 2017, for providing security to the former Chief Justices/Judges of this High Court and former Advocate Generals of the State, subject to outcome of the Special Leave Petition (SLP0 and also directed that the Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, Finance Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir; Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, Home Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir; and Secretary to Government, Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Jammu and Kashmir shall hold a joint meeting in the presence of Registrar General of this Court to take a decision with regard to implementation of the directions issued by this Court vide Order dated 8th June 2017.
The court directions came in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed for seeking security to Court complex and also for security to the former Chief Justices/Judges of this High Court and former Advocate Generals of the State.
The DB after hearing both the sides observed that senior Additional Advocate General W.S Nargal has submitted that against the aforesaid orders dated 14th March 2016 and 17th February 2017 passed by a Bench of this Court, the Law Department has granted sanction to file SLP before the Supreme Court.
The DB also directed Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Jammu, to ensure that a team of four additional traffic constables shall be deployed to ensure that the vehicles of the Advocates and Litigants as well as General Public who visit the premises of both the Courts, namely, High Court and District Courts, are parked only in the parking space, which has been earmarked for parking and not anywhere else.
