DB allows use of Parade Ground for I-Day celebrations

JAMMU: A Division Bench of State High Court comprising First Puisine Judge Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice BS Walia allowed the use of Parade Ground for Independence Day celebrations.
The Bench observed that the ground was earlier used for Military parade. Thereafter with the passage of time, it was transferred to the Municipal Corporation and it was used as “sports Play Ground”.
It is now being used by children /youth and sports lovers. The quality of the Parade Ground is however, reported to be not good due to poor maintenance and it is in bad shape.
The Deputy Commissioner, Jammu however, undertakes before this Court to repair and restore the Parade/Play ground for use during the Independence Day function.
This will benefit the children/youth and sport players in their sports activities as well.
DB further observed that plea for use of the Parade ground for Independence Day celebration is of national importance and, therefore, has to be permitted. It is also informed that all along the said Parade/Play ground is used for Independence Day function.
For the reason mentioned in the application coupled with the nature of use for which the request is made, permission is granted for conducting the Independence Day celebrations at Mini Stadium Parade/Play Ground, Jammu.
This order will apply in respect of the Independence Day celebration in future as well.
