JAMMU: Chairman Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) S.S Sumbria convened a meeting with the people of various affected villages of Majalta Tehsil and took stock of the damages caused to the public, property and their cattle and crops.
The villagers of Palnoo, Pathwar, Bharnara, Babey, Garh, Samnabanj, Chor Motu, Sundla, Garh Panjia and adjoining villages participated in the meeting and apprised about the losses caused in their respective areas due to flood and rains.
It was informed that about 70 per cent of maize and paddy crops have been damaged besides 45 per cent Kacha houses are fully damaged and hundred percent are partially damaged. The meeting was apprised that the villages like Garh Panjia, Babey, and Chor Motu have suffered heavy landslides causing total snaping of road connectivity.
Sumbria urged the district administration to immediately send expert teams of officials for assessment of flood losses in these rural and far-off pockets so that the affected could be provided necessary relief and rehabilitation services.
He also exhorted upon the DAHWA volunteers including men and women to contribute their services by helping the affected people.
