JAMMU: J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on Tuesday released special issue of Sheeraza Hindi titled ‘A tribute to late Prof. O.P Gupt’ here at K.L Saigal Hall. The issue was released to mark the first death anniversary of prominent Hindi poet, scholar and critic Prof O P Gupt.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu was the Chief Guest while renowned Hindi linguistic, intellectual and scholar Prof. P.N Trisal presided over the function. Former Principal, Government Polytechnic College, Jammu, K.G Gupta and younger brother of late Prof. O.P Gupt, Haroon Rashid, Secretary and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also on the presidium.
Delivering his presidential address, Prof. Trisal complemented J and K Cultural Academy for bringing out special issue of Sheeraza Hindi.
While speaking about the literature written by Prof. O.P Gupt, Trisal said that Prof. Gupt very scholarly succeeded in spreading the philosophy of classics of Hindu mythology among masses belonging to next generation in general and youth in particular.
Shantmanu, speaking on the occasion, appreciated and congratulated for making it possible to bring out the special issue of Sheeraza Hindi as a tribute to Prof. Gupt, a legend of Hindi literature. He expressed his satisfaction that the academy is doing excellent work in the fields of art, culture and languages.
Prof. Nirmal Vinod, prominent poet, scholar and intellectual presented a review paper on the special issue of Sheeraza Hindi.
Haroon Rashid highlighted the J and K Cultural Academy activities to be undertaken in the whole of the State and even at the national level. Padamshree Prof. Ved Ghai and K.G Gupta also spoke on the occasion and paid tributes to Prof. Gupt. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Azra Choudhary, Editor Hindi and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary.
Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma, HOD P.G Department of Hindi, Prof Neelam Saraf, Prof. Veena Gupta, Prof. Ram Partap, Prof. Raj Kumar, Dr. Om Goswami, Dr. Anju Thapa, Sunil Sharma, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr Aruna, Yogita Yadav, Neeru Sharma, Sham Talib, Kazmi, Hussain of Anjuman-e-Farog-e-Urdu, Chand Deepika, Shakunt Deepmala, Kumar-e-Bharti, Sheikh Mohammad Kalyan, Chandu Bhau, Sunita Bhadwal, Farooq Anwar Mirza, family members, writers, poets, artists of various languages of the region and prominent citizens were also present.
