R S PURA: A traditional folk music programme was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on Friday in the border village Chakroi of R.S Pura. Tilak Raj, Srapanch, Chakroi was the Chief Guest while Ahuti Sharma, Principal, Celestial Mission School, Chakroi was Guest of Honour. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J and K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, Ahuti Sharma thanked J and K Cultural Academy for organising this traditional folk music programme in the remote and border area like Chakroi and appreciated all the participating folk parties.
Tilak Raj, Sarpanch also spoke on the occasion and complimented the J and K Cultural Academy for organising traditional programmes in Chakroi.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary informed about the activities of J and K Cultural Academy.
The folk music parties, who performed in today’s programme include: Girdhari Lal and Party(Bhagtian), Ved Prakash and Party(Baina Garh), Thoru Ram and Party(Chak Shian), Kewal Krishan Lehria and Party(Chakroi), Jeet Ram and Party(Sajjad Pur).
Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, SOCA(G-1) presented vote of thanks while the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Bishan Dass,Junior Staff Artist.
Staff, students, Panchs, prominent personalities and large number of locals were present among the audience.
