Cultural Academy felicitates Ramalo Ram, family

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on Tuesday felicitated Ramalo Ram and family in Gharana 6 at a programme organized here at Abhinav Theatre.
MLA Ramnagar, R.S Pathania was the Chief Guest while Secretary JKAACL, Dr Aziz Hajini was also present on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, Pathania complimented Ramalo Ram and family for their performance and also for felicitation in this programme.
While appreciating the initiative of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for this prestigious series for families of music legends and especially for providing a platform to Ramalo Ram and family in Gharana 6, he said that such programmes play an important role for encouraging the youth and generation towards the rich and old traditions.
While addressing the gathering, Hajini said that Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages focusing to provide the platform to the writers, artists, performers of visual and performing arts and for this such new series have been initiated.
Born on 3rd March 1963 in Village Amroh of Tehsil Ramnagar District Udhampur in the family of Bain Ram and Taro Devi, Ramalo Ram a renowned folk singer hardly needs any introduction. He attained his early education from Primary School Amroh, Ramnagar, Metric from High School, Marta, B.A from Government Degree College Udhampur and pass M.A in 1995 as private candidate. He joined Education Department as a teacher and presently working as Head Master, Government High School Konian, Ramnagar. He learned folk singing and dance from his elders in the family i.e great grandfather, grandfather, father and mother. He has been decorated with numerous Awards among which are All India Gold Medal in 1999, 2000 and 2005 in National Youth Festival held at Lucknow, Gujarat and Haryana (Hisar) organised by HRDA, Nehru Yuva Kendra and All India Youth Sports Department Government of India. He also decorated with Varasat Shree-2013 by JK Police, Doordarshan, Jammu and Montas Film Industry, Mumbai.
The family members of Ramalo Ram who took part in the function include Saras Bharti, Puja Bharti, Poonam Bharti (daughters), Taro Devi (mother), Kanta Devi (wife) his brother in-law Tara Chand, nephew Ganesh Bharti and 16-month-old Rahil Bharti.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Vijay Atri, a well known artist and announcer of the State whereas Padam Dev Singh, renowned scholar readout a detailed paper on the life and works of Ramalo Ram. Among others were present include Thakur Randhir Singh, Dr Sanjay Bhasin, Sham Bhasin, M.R Bangotra, Prof Kali Dass, R.L Dogra, Dr Ashwani Kumar, Dr Dharminder Kumar, Prof G.L Thappa, G.C Dogra, Joginder Paul, Brij Rana, P.D Bangotra, Ajay Bhagat, C.L Lakhnotra, Dr Om Parkash, Dr Kamal Kishore, Dr Kamal Sharma, Raj Kumar, Balwinder Singh, Vandana Thakur, Rajni Kumari, Vagheesh Sharma, Deepak Kumar and Kumar A Bharti.
