Cabinet to meet within two days
SRINAGAR: Cabinet Sub Committee on regularisation of daily rated workers and others, headed by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather, met here on Tuesday and discussed much awaited regularization of various categories of workers working in various public utility departments.
The discussions remained inconclusive despite deliberations held for about two hours. Sources told STATE TIMES that the committee will again meet on Wednesday or day after.
The government is mulling to finalise the regularization of the casual, daily rated and need-based workers of Public Health Engineering, Power Development and Estates besides other departments in the State before Code of Conduct comes in force if elections to Legislative Assembly are held later this year.
Earlier, the Government had asked all the departments to give details about these workers.
Besides others, the meeting was attended by PHE Minister Sham Lal Sharma and Minister for Planning Ajay Sadhotra.
Meanwhile, the State Cabinet is likely to meet within two days.
According to reliable sources, the Cabinet will meet at Civil Secretariat immediately after the return of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from New Delhi.
The Cabinet is likely to order some transfers in the Civil Administration.
