CS sets target of 1,000 households per month for each Discom under PM Surya Ghar Yojana

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo has directed Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) to expedite the installation of 1,000 rooftop solar plants each to meet their targets under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Addressing a meeting with key officials, including the Principal Secretaries of PDD and Finance, and the MDs of JPDCL and KPDCL, Dulloo emphasized the importance of clearing registered applications promptly and resolving any portal issues.
Dulloo highlighted that efficient implementation would enhance the credibility of the power departments and increase public engagement. He also stressed the need for raising awareness about the scheme. The PM Surya Ghar Yojana offers a central subsidy up to Rs 85,800 for a 3 kWp system and an additional UT subsidy of up to Rs 9,000.
As of now, KPDCL and JPDCL have received 2,372 and 3,151 applications, respectively. They have installed panels for 271 and 262 customers. The scheme targets 39,500 households for JPDCL and 44,000 for KPDCL by 2027.
Additionally, Commissioner Secretary Saurabh Bhagat reported progress in solarizing government buildings, with JAKEDA planning to install 343 MW across various buildings under Capex and RESCO modes.
