CS reviews Darbar Move arrangements

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, on Tuesday reviewed the move arrangements from Srinagar to Jammu here in a meeting with officers.
The Civil Secretariat and other move offices will close in Srinagar on 31st October and open in Jammu on 10th November. However, the Civil Secretariat Srinagar will see substantial presence of officers during the winter months to facilitate and monitor the relief, rehabilitation and restoration process in flood hit areas.
It was informed in the meeting that as many as 145 trucks and 40 mini buses have been deployed for ferrying official record and employees respectively on 1st and 2nd November and on 8th and 9th November.
In this connection, the Chief Secretary directed for putting in place all necessary measures to ensure smooth movement of Darbar move vehicles. He directed that extra buses and trucks be kept available during the move days besides adequate number of cranes, mobile workshops, recovery vans, medical mobile teams, ambulances along with necessary equipment and staff deployed en-route to meet any exigency.
It was also informed that during these move days, army and other paramilitary convoys will reduce their movement to facilitate smooth movement of Darbar move vehicles. Arrangements have also been made for providing escort security to the employees and convoy carrying the official record from Srinagar to Jammu.
Chief Secretary directed CAPD to issue temporary gas connections to move employees for their Jammu stay besides, directing the concerned departments to ensure complete sanitation, electricity and potable drinking water in all residential colonies of employees.
Khandey also directed the IT Department to ensure that LAN/Internet connections in Jammu and Srinagar Secretariat are fully functional. He also directed for adequate deployment of security guards in all residential colonies in both Srinagar and Jammu.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister B.B Vyas, Principal Secretary, Home, Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary PDD, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta and senior officers of Civil and Police administration.
