SRINAGAR: Militants on Friday struck in downtown city of Kashmir for the second time this week, killing a CRPF jawan in Aalikadal area, officials said.
“Militants attacked our personnel at Aalikadal in downtown city this evening, resulting in injuries to one jawan,” a senior CRPF officer told PTI.
He said the injured jawan, who was posted with the 44th Battalion of the CRPF, was rushed to a hospital for treatment while search operations have been launched to nab the assailants.
However, an official of the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) at Soura said the jawan was declared “dead on arrival”. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
This is the second militant attack in the city since Sunday. Militants shot dead a ruling National Conference worker in Nowhatta area of the city on September 21. (PTI)
