JAMMU: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, GMC Jammu celebrated CPR Awareness Week from October 13 to 17 under the patronage of Principal & Dean Dr. Ashutosh Gupta. The week began with a CPR oath administered by the Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI. Over the first three days, about 250 interns, pre-final, and final-year students received hands-on training at the NELS Lab, GMC Jammu. Practical demonstrations on adult and pediatric mannequins ensured comprehensive learning.
During the outreach program, around 100 police personnel were trained at DPL Jammu, while 80 BSF personnel received training at the Ramgarh Border Post. The training highlighted that CPR is a simple, essential skill that does not require specialized equipment but can save lives during cardiac emergencies.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Ratnakar Sharma, HoD Surgery and Nodal Officer of NELS Lab, along with Dr. Kailash Singh, Assistant Nodal Officer. The training faculty included Dr. Shelly Gupta, Dr. Jasmine, and Dr. Santosh, supported by Dr. Sawan Singh, Dr. Arjun Singh, and team members Lovesh and Rupesh.
