Tainted leaders in desperate rush to seek mandate
JAMMU: At a time when BJP is grappling with the paucity of candidates and making desperate selections from among every Tom, Dick and Harry joining the party, serious charges of land grabbing have been made against influential BJP leader and her husband.
This has compounded the problems of the selection panel, even as the voters have been feeling dejected and disillusioned with most of the eleven members they chose in 2008 doing nothing except bringing ill repute to the party during the past six years.
According to reliable sources, the BJP is in dilemma over the candidature of a former Corporator who sold the prime land belonging to Jammu Municipal Corporation in lieu of ‘consideration of Rs 25 lakh’, thus earning bad name for the party.
In a complaint filed by one Jasbir Singh seeking registration of FIR against Anil Choudhary and his wife Aditi Sharma, a BJP leader, for allegedly encroaching the State land in Village Rohi Babiliana at RS Pura, Forest Magistrate Jammu Slahuddin Ahmed on Friday directed I/C Crime Branch Jammu to verify the matter and in case conginzance offence is made out, then to investigate under law and submit report.
According to the complaint, both the non-applicants were trespassing and encroaching upon state land by asserting political pressure; using influence or in connivance with government officials. The complaint sought the role of conniving officials to be thoroughly examined by SP Crime apart from restoring the land to the state. It sought registration of FIR against Anil Choudhary and Aditi Sharma and after conducting thorough investigation, charge sheeting them in a competent court of law.
