Court rejects bail plea of Burma residents in human-trafficking case

JAMMU: City Judge Jammu Pooja Raina rejected bail applications of Mohammad Yasin and Asmida, both residents of Burma, who were arrested by police for Human Trafficking Act. According to police case, accused namely Mohd Yasin and Abdul Shukur were arrested by the police in connection with FIR No 342/2022 for commission of offences punishable under sections 370 of IPC, 14 of Foreigner Act, 5/7 Specified Bank notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Act 2017 and on disclosure of accused, three victims namely Asmida, daughter of Rashid Ahmed, resident of Tamba Jaar, District Busidung; Myanmar, wife of Mohd Yaseen, resident of Myanmar, at present Kiryani Talab Narwal; Sufairah Begum, daughter of Shamas-UI-Alam, resident of Shab Bazar District Aakib Myanmar, wife of Mohd Islam, resident of Myanmar at present Billa Plot, Kiryani Talab, Narwal, Jammu and Amina Begum, daughter of Mohd Yousaf, resident of o Myanmar A/P Kiryani Talab Narwal wife of Irshad Ahmad resident of village Dharyouth Tehsil Karah, District Doda were recovered.
City Judge Jammu Pooja Raina after hearing APP Arvind Rathore for the police whereas Adv Anwar Saleem for applicants observed that The Offence under section 370 IPC deals with trafficking of persons and is grave and heinous in nature. Section 370 (3) IPC is punishable with rigorous imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than ten years, but which may extend to imprisonment for life. The investigation of case is still in progress. Court further observed that victim is yet to be recovered and investigation is at initial Stage. With these observations Court rejected the bail application.
