JAMMU: 1st Additional Sessions Judge Jammu MA Chowdhary Wednesday rejected the bail applications of two inter-state Narco Smugglers namely Jithin P.C and Nizamudin both residents of Kerala.
According to the police report a police party from Special Operation Group (SOG) headed by Dy SP Vishal Singh Manhas on 07.6.2016 had laid a Naka at Narwal crossing on NH-44 ( Jammu-Srinagar) for checking and at 11.45 A.M, checked one silver coloured Santro Car bearing Registration No. 5905/JKO3B with five occupants including driver on way to Kunjwani Jammu and during checking, 04 packets containing 04 Kg of heroin has been seized from the possession of both the applicants each , whereas, 06 packets, 2 packets and 04 packets weighing 06 Kgs, 02 Kgs and 04 Kgs, were recovered and seized from the possession of other accused namely Shafiq Ahmed, Abdul Mannan (driver of the vehicle) and Surjeet Singh. Police during checking the afore referred vehicle also recovered and seized Indian currency notes of Rs. 11,44,000/- from its dicky. The contraband on weighing came out as 20 Kgs . Accused were arrested and case vide FIR No. 104/2016 was registered with Police Station Bahu Fort against all the above named accused for the commission of offences punishable under sections 8/21 NDPS Act.
Court after hearing APP Ajay Singh Manhas, observed that Drug Abuse has became a major problem of the society over the years. Cases against drug peddlers indicate interstate International drug rackets targeting cross sections of the society including school kids as well. The illicit drugs have a high addiction potential and there is gradual increase in their intake, getting the users dependent on these drugs both physically and psychologically. The compulsive drug seeking and use, on addiction, causes chronic, brain disease changing the brain, its structure and how it works. The deadly menace, a major problem of the society, requires to be checked through strengthening the reinforcement and dismissed the bail application.
