SRINAGAR: The Principal District and Sessions Judge Budgam convicted an accused namely Kamal Jeet Singh, son of Aya Singh, resident of Attina Beerwah in the case FIR No 113/2002 of Police Station Beerwah under Sections 376 and 302/RPC with life imprisonment.
The accused was involved in rape and murder of two six-year minor girls in the year 2002.
A case was registered by Police Station Beerwah and after investigation, the case was Challaned in the Court of Law at Budgam on 27th November 2002. The trial of the case was conducted by Principal District and Sessions Judge Budgam and Budgam Police taking the matter as a heinous one ensured to produce the witnesses before the Court for the last 14 years.
On 10th December 2016, the accused was convicted for the offence under Sections 376 and 302 RPC and today the accused was sent to Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar with the directions of the Court to lodge the accused in the Central Jail Srinagar pending confirmation of the sentence of life imprisonment imposed upon the accused by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.
