Corporator Vijay Choudhary starts development works

JAMMU: Corporator of Ward-42, Vijay Choudhary along with Ch. Manmohan Singh, on Monday started the work of construction and upgradation of the drainage system in sector-1 Lane No -9 of their ward in the presence of AEE JMC Ashok Sharma and Manjot Singh junior Engineer.
The cost of the work is approximately Rs 7.50 lakh.
Vijay Choudhary said that this was a long pending demand of the local residents.
She informed the gathering that the blacktopping of every lane and by-lane has been completed within two years of her tenure except Lane No-10 of the same sector.
Blacktopping and construction of the drain of the aforesaid lane is under process for tender. She assured the residents that in the coming summer season it would be started and completed.
Choudhary told the gathering that the upgradation work of drainage system of Gali No 5, 6 and 7 has also completed on the request of the local residents.
The locals raised some problems regarding sanitation in the sub lanes. Corporator immediately directed the concerned Supervisor Subash Gill to take necessary action and asked him to visit the lane and sub lane daily to access progress of the sanitation system. Ch. Manmohan Singh praised Gill and their team for their regularly keeping optimal sanitation standards in the ward especially since the COVID pandemic.
He addressed the gathering on some salient and necessary points of their conduct towards their ward.
Manmohan said that it is not just the duty of sanitation staff but people should feel responsible too of the area.
He requested the gathering to park their cars, one week on left side of the lane and next week on the right side of the lane so that the drains can be cleaned on both side of the lanes. Choudhary asked people to follow proper waste disposal system and refrain from throwing waste material in drains. If any street light is not working or they notice sanitation staff not performing their duty, they must inform the Corporator at once so that she can resolve the issue.
