Cop, wife among 3 killed, 4 hurt in mishap

RAMBAN: A policeman, his wife among three persons were killed while four others were seriously injured in a road accident when a car in which they were travelling rolled down into deep gorge near Ratanvas, Banihal on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Shabir Ahmed Naik, 35, son of Ghulam Mohd Naik, resident of Tachi Banihal, Mohd Ayoub, 40, (working with J&K Armed Police), his wife and Parveena Begum, 35, both residents of Sarbagni, Ramsoo
Those seriously injured inlcide Nargis Begum, 37, wife of Parvez Ahmed, Hannan, 13, son of Parvez Ahmed, both residents of Chambalwas, Gulzar Ahmed, 25, son of Ghulam Hassan, resident of Hewgan, Makerkote and Irfan Ahmed, son of Asadullah Malik, resident of Chachal, Banihal.
They were on their way in a Maruti van from Ramsoo to Banihal, which skidded off the road and rolled down into 300 feet deep gorge, near Ratanvas, Banihal.
All were shifted to Sub District Hospital Banihal from where seriously injured were further referred to Srinagar.Meanwhile, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana and District President Ramban Sajjad Shaheen on Tuesday expressed grief over the loss of lives in tragic road accident in Banihal and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved families. Rana and Shaheen prayed for peace to the departed souls.
