Cop booked for securing job on fake certificates

JAMMU: Crime Branch on Wednesday registered an FIR against Atta Mohd Naik, son of Mohd Ramzan Naik, resident of Chacknarwah, Banihal who got job in police department on fake certificate, as he was illiterate.
The action came after a written complaint was lodged by Abdul Rashid Sohil, son of Habibullah Sohil, resident of Chacknarwah, Banihal before the State Vigilance Commission, alleging that Atta Mohd Naik had submitted fake certificates/documents to secure a job in the Police Department despite being illiterate. He was serving as Barber in IRP 9th BN Maitra.
It was further alleged that as per his Date of Birth (D.O.B) entered in the Service Book as April 1, 1969, his Date of Appointment was shown as Dec 24, 1985 which meant that he was appointed at the ineligible age of 16 years.
On receipt of this complaint, the matter was got enquired by the SVC through Commandant IRP 9th Bn., and on the basis of his report an order dated November 30, 2015 was passed by the State Vigilance Commission wherein Director General of Police, J&K was directed to register a formal case into  the matter. Subsequently the matter was received in the Crime Branch through the Police Headquarters.
The omissions and commissions on the part of Atta Mohd Naik and others, prima facie, constituted offences punishable under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC.
