RAJOURI: Rajouri police on Thursday arrested a police constable involved in the illegal menace of drug peddling and recovered intoxicants from his possession.
Police spokesperson informed that as a part of special drive against drug menace launched by Rajouri Police, police party under the supervision of SHO Darhal, Mohammad Sharief acting on a specific information laid a Naka at Bus Stand Darhal.
During Naka, police intercepted one drug peddler namely Mehboob Qadir alias Bablu, son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Thanamang, Darhal and recovered 12 bottles of psychotropic substances Corex, 88 Parron spas capsules and 20 gms Cannabis (Charas) from his possession.
In this regard, case FIR No.44/2015 under section 8/20/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Darhal.
During enquiry, it came to light that the accused person is a Constable in J and K Police and presently posted at District Police Lines Poonch. Further Investigation is going on to unearth the modus operandi of the drug peddlers and their nexus with other local and non-local associates.
The locals of the area highly appreciated the timely action of police.
Spokesperson further informed that during the current year, seven cases have been registered under NDPS Act in which eight accused persons were arrested
