JAMMU: Contractual lecturers (10+2), who are on hunger strike for the last 180 day, on Saturday warned the government that if their demands are not conceded before the completion of 190 days then some of the contractual lecturers will attempt self immolation.
A large number of contractual lecturers under the banner of 10+2 Contractual Lecturers Forum assembled near Press Club and took out a protest rally against Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh and Education Minister and burnt their effigies.
The agitating contractual lecturers raised slogans in support of their demands and demanded regularisation as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010.
While addressing media persons, Arun Bakshi, State President of the Forum, said that 180 days of hunger strike have passed but nothing concrete came out adding that nobody cared about the deteriorating condition of the suffering contractual lecturers which is inhuman act.
He said that the hunger strike will continue till their demands are met.
Arun said that on the one hand the Central Government has announced so many schemes for the development of the country but on the other hand State Government is trying to thrash out the policies of the Central Government and tarnishing the position of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has taken each and every step for the development of the unemployed youth.
Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta, MoS Education Priya Sethi, Information Minister Ch. Zulfkar Ali have their helping hands towards them but Dy. CM is sleeping over the matter and never paid any attention towards the grievances of the 10+2 contractual lecturers, he alleged.
The 10+2 contractual lecturers appealed to the Prime Minister to get the matter probed by taking personal initiative in the matter.
