Contractual lecturers’ hunger strike enters day-34

JAMMU: The hunger strike launched by contractual lecturers (10+2) on Sunday entered 34th day.
The agitating contractual lecturers have been demanding regularisation as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010. A policy framed for the regularisation of all the ad-hoc/ contractual/consolidate employees after rendering seven years of service.
Contractual Lecturers Rattan Surya, Sheraz Choudhary and Gulshan Singh were on chain hunger strike, but government never paid any heed towards the grievances of 10+2 contractual lecturers.
While addressing Arun Bakshi State President of the Association warned the government that if any untoward incident occurred with any of the contractual lecturers then the consequences shall lie on the government.
Meanwhile, Randhir Singh Raipuria President of Dogra Mandal and Dogri Poet, Akashwani Doordarshan Music and Artists, Nami Dogri Sansatha and Sunita Sharma President of Rural Women Foundation J and K State visited the spot of hunger strike today and assured full support.
Another team of JPPF led by Justice Paviter Singh (Retd) visited the spot of hunger strike and discussed about the problems of contractual lecturers and assured full support to them. Justice Paviter Singh also assured the agitators to take up their cases to the concerned department and assured them every type of support.
Bakshi demanded that 10+2 lecturers are also contractual vide Order no 1584-edu of 2003 and vide order no.1328 of GAD and all the contractual lecturers are to be continued till further orders.
