Contractual lecturers hunger strike continues

JAMMU: Alleging that the State Government has turned a deaf ear to the repeated representations of the lecturers, contractual lecturers, who are on hunger strike for the last 28 days, said it is unfortunate that despite assurance it failed to regularize them.
“Contractual lecturers do as much work as those in regular service but the huge difference in their salaries and emoluments is unjustified, unconstitutional, illegal and in contravention of the principle of equal pay for equal work enshrined in the Constitution,” State President, 10+2 Contractual Lecturers Forum, Arun Bakshi said.
Arun demanded regularization of contractual lecturers as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010.
He added that the apathetic attitude of the government towards the contractual lecturers is showing disregard to the teaching communities.
The condition of Vinod Kumar, who is on fast since 14th February, 2017, has been deteriorating day by day but government never paid any attention towards the grievances of 10+2 contractual Iecturers, Arun said.
Seema Rajput, another contractual lecturer sat on fast unto death from 12th March, 2017.
While Randeep Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Kiran Bala and Radhika Prasher sat on chain hunger strike.
