Conspiracy being hatched to reduce Dogras to minority: Harsh

JKNPP protests settlement of Rohingyas, Bangladeshis

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Describing the ingression and unlawful settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu as a grave threat to the cultural, historical and religious identity of Dogras, a strong contingent of Panther activists led by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and other leaders staged a vigorous protest demonstration seeking their immediate repatriation to the native countries.
The enraged protestors raised slogans of ‘Rohingyas Quit Jammu’ and ‘Bangladeshis Go Back’ besides anti-government slogans.
Addressing the media, Harsh said that Rohingyas who were persecuted and forced to leave Myanmar (Burma) because of their involvement in the criminal and terror related activities had been mysteriously allowed to enter Jammu directly all the way long from their native country without being diverted to other states. He said that the State Government had admitted on the floor of the House that there were several thousands of Burmese and Bangladeshi immigrants who had been unlawfully settled in the outskirts of Jammu city and Samba by several NGOs and Madrassas.
He divulged that these illegal foreigners had raised fabricated shanties and slums located at some of the congested colonies including Rajiv Nagar, Kasim Nagar, Narwal, Bhatindi, Borhi, Channi Himmat, Nagrota and areas adjoining the Bahu Fort besides others. Earlier, thousands of Tibetan Muslim refugees who were forced to flee China had also been inhabited by the State government in the colonies located at Idgah, Badamwari and Gulshan Mohalla in Kashmir and Ladakh, he revealed.
Describing the soaring population of Rohingyas as a potential threat to the demography of Duggar land, Singh maintained that these people living in the colonies encircling Jammu city had clandestinely managed to procure PRCs, Identity Cards, Ration Cards, Water and Electricity Connections by conniving with some politicians and officials in the administration which was astounding and needed to be withdrawn in the public interest.
Harsh regretted that while the Rohingyas from Mayanmar and Bangladeshis could manage to settle in the Jammu in recent years, unfortunately the West Pak Refugees (WPRs) being the citizens of India were still struggling for the State subject rights since independence. He said that the events like mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley, communal and fascist ideology of separatists in Kashmir, glorification of militants and now State Government’s silence over the unlawful settlement of foreign nationals in clusters and denying PRCs to the WPRs was undoubtedly manipulative and dangerous.
Fearing the Rohingyas being prone to ‘Jehadi extremism’ in the militancy hit state, he revealed that the Burmese families settling down in Jammu city had remained on the terror radar who were quite vulnerable to be swayed away by ISI designs and terror outfits active in the Valley.
He added that the State Government had further confessed that 17 FIRs had been registered against 38 Rohingyas for various offences including illegal border crossing. He called upon intellectual forums, social organisations, nationalist forces, youth and student organisations to get united to launch a mass agitation against the settlement of foreign nationals in the city of temples.
He warned the State Government and BJP in particular to take serious cognisance of the security threat posed by the “ticking time bomb” in the wake of recent terror attacks in the State and urged the Union Home Ministry to facilitate their deportation to the native countries without any further delay.
Lambasting the incumbent government for its despicable apathy in addressing the grave issue, Singh regretted that BJP leadership was merely issuing press statements for public and media consumption with all their jingoistic claims falling flat. He expressed his dismay that various ministers of J and K including Dr. Jitendra Singh were purely opposing the settlement of these illegal immigrants without initiating any process of their extradition. He accused the BJP for bartering away the revered aspirations of the Dogras for mere crumbs of power and asserted that the political sin committed by the Saffron brigade would not be forgiven by the people for a long time.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Naresh Chib, Gagan Pratap, Shyam Gorkha, Nirmal Kishore, Arun Khajuria, Khajoor Singh, Rajesh Gondhi, Shankar Singh Sanju, Satvir, Ravinder Jamwal, Udheyveer and Rash Paul Singh.
