STATE TIMES NEWS
VIJAYPUR: Vehicular traffic on Jammu-Pathankot Highway was on Monday blocked here in Vijaypur by the Congress Party workers seeking AIIMS for Jammu.
The protesters led by Congress General Secretary Manjit Singh assembled in the town and took out a protest rally in Vijaypur against the Coalition Government for their failure to redress concerns of the Jammu Division.
Amid sloganeering, the protesters blocked the highway for half an hour expressing anger against the BJP for befooling people of Jammu on the issue of AIIMS.
Speaking before the protesting Congress activities, the former minister alleged that AIIMS was sanctioned for Jammu but it was not given to the division because of BJP’s “negligence and arrogance”.
“Union Government had announced AIIMS for Jammu but Chief Minister in presence BJP legislators and ministers stated that the prestigious hospital was given for Srinagar not for Jammu,” he said, adding that the BJP kept mum over the issue even as PDP preferred giving it to Srinagar neglecting Jammu.
It shows BJP was allegedly involved in the conspiracy of snatching AIIMS from Jammu and handing it over to Kashmir for power.
Citing example, he reminded that when the CM praised Pakistan and militants for elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Dy CM Nirmal Singh was also present but he did not speak even a word to object.
“BJP wants to be in power selling Jammu’s demands and needs,” he alleged, further adding that similarly the coalition launched new employment policy to mislead people of the State.
Terming the “new employment policy” anti-youth, he demanded that the government should withdraw the policy in the interest of the unemployed youth.
He said that the recruitment should be done as per proper procedure though recruitment agency like SSRB and PSC.
Meanwhile, the Congress leader presented a memorandum of demands to the government through SDM Vijaypur before calling off their protest against the coalition.
