Jammu: Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has said that Congress is the only secular alternative acceptable to people in J&K. He urged cadre to strengthen the party and expose failure and wrong policies of BJP in J&K, which is responsible for current situation prevailing in J&K.
While addressing a public meeting in Dhok Khalsa area of Akhnoor, Tara Chand said that people of Jammu region feel utterly cheated and betrayal for the failure of BJP leaders to represent their concerns. “BJP government in J&K miserably failed to live up to expectations of people. There is a strong resentment among people against present Government as it has not fulfilled its promises made at time of elections. BJP is playing with sentiments of the people, who voted them to power. People are not happy with their policies and Government proved to be a failure,” he added.
Tara Chand claimed that Congress during its tenure had proved how to provide pro-people governance to people by bringing total transparency and accountability in the functioning of Government. “We set an example of good governance during Congress regime wherein every individual was provided equal opportunity of growth and development,” he said. Reiterating his resolve to institutionalize transparency and accountability in governance, Tara Chand said that the Congress had shown the way for strengthening democratic and Constitutional institutions in the state by initiating various revolutionary steps during its tenure in the power.
