Congress launches membership drive

RAJOURI: Vice President JKPCC Mula Ram (former Minister) Chairman Baba Saheb B.R Ambedkar 125th Birth Anniversary Celebration Committee of Pradesh Congress Committee has asked the downtrodden sections of the society to come under the umbrella of Congress Party in order to strengthen the social and secular fabric of the State and ensure the overall development of each and every section of the society.
Launching membership drive of the party in Rajouri District today, Mula Ram said that Congress is a strong unifying force which represents each and every section of the pluralistic society and is a vibrant political party in all three regions of the State. He was accompanied by General Secretaries PCC Shabir Ahmed Khan and Ch. Shah Mohammad-Advocate, besides District President Ch. Sain Rashid and other senior DCC leaders of the district.
Mula Ram said that Congress always took land mark steps to uplift the poor and downtrodden sections of the society and ensured the participation of the deprived sections in every sphere of life as per the spirit of the Constitution and the philosophy of Dr. Ambedkar.
He said that Congress Party has decided to have year long celebrations in connection with 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar with a view to have thrust on the policies and programmes for the downtrodden sections of the society for which Congress has always remained on the fore-front since independence.
Earlier, they were accorded rousing reception at Sunderbani by Congress leaders and workers led by Block President Thakur Shamsher Singh (Sarpanch).
Meanwhile, the Congress leaders launched membership drive at Nowshera in a function which was organised by Block Congress Committee led by President Harbans Lal Bakshi and presided over by Master Som Nath-Working President District Rajouri and Ashwani Kumar-Advocate, besides other prominent leaders of the party.
