JAMMU: A meeting of District Congress Committee Jammu, Urban & Rural was held on Wednesday at the Congress office here organised by former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney Incharge District President Jammu (U) and Th. Hari Singh Chib District President Jammu (R) in preparation of 21st May marking the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Late Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India.
The meeting was presided over by PCC President Vikar Rasool Wani and Working President Raman Bhalla in presence of Sr. Congress Leader & former Minister J&K Mula Rami.
Speaking at the meeting PCC President Vikar Rasool Wani issued instructions for the upcoming programme to be held on 21st May which marks the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi.
He said that the day marks the sacrifice of a beloved son of the nation, and Congress will respectfully pay it’s tributes.
Adding that 21st May is also observed as Anti Terrorism Day, he said that they will pay a homage to Rajiv Gandhi’s legacy.
Wani also then spoke on the upcoming JMC and local body elections, guiding the attendees to focus on ward-wise programnes to strengthen the party’s connect with people at the grassroots level.
He said that we must direct focus on the elections and must start preparing in full swing.
Working President PCC Raman Bhalla stated that there is a wave of support for Congress seen in Karnataka and we must take that forward in Jammu Kashmir as well.
We should take these elections as an opportunity to also test preparedness for the assembly polls as and when they will be held. He encouraged the party workers to gear up for elections, so that whenever the Centre decides to conduct elections in Jammu Kashmir, Congress secures a massive victory.
Mula Ram said that with effort in the right direction, Congress party can secure great victory in the elections.
Former Minister J&K Yogesh Sawhney said that a massive program will be held by the Congress party to observe the death anniversary of the former PM.
Speaking during the meeting, District President Jammu Rural Th. Hari Singh Chib said that the main focus is on organisational matters.
