JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) strongly criticised the PDP-BJP alliance government for non-availability of ration items on depots including Atta (flour) and sugar in Jammu.
In a press statement issued here on Saturday, Ravinder Sharma, Chief Spokesperson JKPCC, expressed serious concern over the difficulties being faced by the people of Jammu for want of ration as neither Atta nor sugar was provided to the rationees for last several months.
He further lamented that instead of Atta, raw wheat grains were supplied by the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department on the ration depots whereas former Advisor to the Governor, Parvez Dewan, in his last meeting with the senior officers of the CAPD Department, had directed to ensure supply of Atta instead of wheat to the consumers of urban areas of Jammu city.
He expressed dismay over the implementation and continuation of controversial Food Safety Act (NFSA) in the State and alleged that lakh of people have been deprived of their necessary rations, especially poor lot of the society.
The Chief Spokesman of JKPCC further reiterated the demand of the Congress Party to withdraw the ill-conceived Food Safety Act from Jammu and Kashmir keeping in view the sufferings of general public.
Ravinder urged upon the CAPD Minister, Zulfkar Ali to personally look into the matter and address this serious issue immediately.
