STATE TIMES NEWS
POONCH: A deputation of two Panchayats of Jhallas and Dara Duliyan led by the District President Congress Committee Poonch Advocate Rajinder Singh met the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch M.H Malik on Friday. The deputation highlighted that they have lost their Ragi crop due to incessant unseasonal rains and are fearing that the coming crops would also be lost due to non-repair of the irrigation canal which had been damaged during last floods.
They said that the damage due to floods were restored on war footing in every nook and corner of the State but not in Poonch due to which the people continue to suffer. They said that the work on sowing of paddy crops is to commence soon but due to non-availability of irrigation water, it cannot be done. They also pointed out that they are totally disconnected with the Poonch town due to non-repair of Sher-e-Kashmir Bridge even after a lapse of nine months.
They requested the DDC to give immediate attention towards apathy of farmers so that they could earn their livelihood. Prominent among others present include Sarpanch Choudhary Manzoor, Sarpanch Bagh Hussain, Retd District Sports Officer Rajinder Singh and Sanjeev Sharma.
