JAMMU: Congress on Friday celebrated the 127th Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh at Hari Singh Park near Vivekanand Chowk, apart from joining the mega celebrations at Maharaja Hari Singh statue at Tawi bridge Jammu along with hundreds of people of all walks especially Yuva Rajput Sabha.
Congress held an impressive function at Maharaja Hari Singh Park near Vivekananda Chowk at Samadhian Jammu, in which senior Congress leaders, PCC, DCC, frontal organization leaders and corporators led by working president Raman Bhalla and senior Congress leaders Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Manmohan Singh, Indu Pawar, Pranab Shagotra, Udey Bhanu Chib, Dwarka Chaudhary, Kamal Singh, Ritu Chaudhary, Sanjeev Panda, Narinder Gupta, Suresh Dogra, Kapil Chib, sahil Sharma, Satish Sharma Ex corporator, Sahil Langeh, Latish Sharma, Sat Pal Spolia, Aman Bawa, Chander Shekhar, Atul Sharma, Anirudh Sawhney, Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Gurmeet and several others paid floral tributes, grlanded the statue and offered flowers and distributed Halwa on the occasion to mark the occasion.
A large number of Congress workers and people attended the function and shared sweets and exchanged greetings in the function raising slogans of Maharaja Hari Singh Amar Rahe.
Addressing gathering, Raman Bhalla congratulated the people over the success of the struggle of holiday on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh and termed it hard earned holiday by the Dogras especially the youths led by Yuva Rajput Sabha.
He said after the BJP failed to honour it’s commitment for eight long years especially after the imposition of Governor’s rule, the youth of Jammu led by Yuva Rajput Sabha and supported by all social, political and trade bodies launched a decisive struggle.
The administration did everything to crush the movement initially including imposition of 144 secttion on all Tawi bridges and lifting of Dharna but realised the public support to the demand and succeeded to it.
He congratulated the youth and people of all walks for the achievement, stating that Congress always supported the demand and extended full support.
He criticised BJP for trying to take political mileage of the struggle of youth and said Maharaja is respected by all. He recalled the great contributions of Maharaja during his rule and the visionary steps taken by him. Several senior leaders paid rich tributes to the Maharaja. Later, they took out a march to the statue of Maharaja ay Tawi Bridge from Maharaja Hari Singh Park and joined the common celebrations there where people from different walks of life had assembled and celebrating the occasion. The Congress shared the birthday greetings with the people and Yuva Rajpit Sabha and participated in the colourful programme.
