Congress begins membership drive

POONCH: On the directions of youth icon Rahul Gandhi to reach out at grass route level ahead of 2014 general elections, the Congress may be the last to get started, but it claims that its membership drive has evoked good response. Congress Poonch unit has started an open membership drive from Saturday.
In workers meeting at Dak Banglow Poonch senior leaders guided Congress workers and encouraged them to get active members enrolled at every booth so as to strengthen the party organisation.
Addressing hundreds of party workers and Panchayat representatives at Dak Banglow Poonch the Congress leader Mulla Ram said, “People of this region are worst effected in past two decades of militancy and among those effected most are youth of this region, but Rahul Gandhi has personal affection with people of Poonch and he wants to change the atmosphere.”
District President Poonch Rajinder Singh (Kaka) slamming the coalition Govt. for their non serious attitude towards the people of this region who are deprived of basic amenities of livelihood, Youth Congress leader Sanjeev Sharma also urged the youth to join Youth Congress and become the pillar of democratic system under the Congress Party regime.
Terming Congress Party a movement, MLA Surnkote Ch. Akram said that Congress Party is the oldest political party serving the people and the country adding no political party or front can compete with the Congress Party, as Congress Party has always worked for poor
On this occasion, Ch. Shah Mohd PCC General Secretary, Hari Singh Chib PCC Secretary, Shahnawaz PCC General Secretary, Ch Bashir Naz, Parveen Akhter, Gurdev Singh, Ch Imran, Haji Fazal, Maqsood Ch, Rajinder Singh and Ch Akbar were also present.
