SRINAGAR: A leader belonging to Congress, which is ruling Jammu and Kashmir in coalition with National Conference, on Sunday asked the Election Commission to closely monitor the implementation of transfer orders in various state government departments.
Congress national spokesperson Salman Anees Soz, who is son of PCC chief Saifuddin Soz, in a statement urged the EC to closely monitor implementation of the J&K government’s order related to transfer of staff in various departments.
“The EC may be aware that following the massive flooding in J&K, the government had issued a directive on September 15 stopping all transfers, which was appropriate at the time. As the situation is improving slowly, the government has issued an order on October 11, revoking its September 15 order,” Salman said.
He said the EC has not yet decided on the schedule for J-K Assembly elections, but as elections approach, there will be opportunities to seek political gains from all sorts of government processes, especially transfers.
He alleged that there have been numerous reports of irregularities in transfers in the state. In an election year, strict monitoring by the EC can help reduce the risk of grave irregularities, he added.
