JAMMU: Congress on Tuesday strongly reacted to the reports about the change in the nomenclature of Bahu Fort Cable Car Project and suspected it a deliberate attempt to foment trouble on the eve of Shri Amarnath Yatra.
Reacting to a report appearing in STATE TIMES, JKPCC Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma condemned the attempts to create controversies by the government and its agencies by fiddling with the name of historic and heritage sites and places especially having religious sanctity and sentiments attached to them.
“In the recent past during the present dispensation of PDP- BJP, there was another controversy with regard to the nomenclature of historic and religious places of “Hari-Parbat” and Shri Shankryacharya in Kashmir, by a State government department in the official advertisement. Now these reports of repeating the same things with the Bahu fort cable car project is a matter of great concern and a reflection on the working and role of BJP in the government”, he said. Sharma questioned the failure of BJP, which always played with the religious sentiments for their vote bank politics, to check such increased incidents, aimed at hurting the religious sentiments by imposing ‘Jazia’ type service tax on chopper service to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and other religious shrines, failure to carry forward the projects in Jammu to promote tourism like Bahu Fort Cable Car project and Artificial Lake Project on River Tawi. It is most unfortunate that these things and controversies are happening when BJP is in Power sharing arrangement and its leaders who boost of their performance 24×7. He sought an explanation from the government on this issue immediately.
