Cong hits out at Modi Govt for cut in budget allocation for SC, STs

RAJOURI: Vice President JKPCC Mula Ram (former Minister) has lashed out at the Modi government for slashing allocations for SCs and STs welfare schemes, besides allowing to lapse the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Ordinance, 2014. He said that this shows the approach of the present Modi government towards the downtrodden sections.
He was speaking during the review of ongoing membership drive of the party in the border districts.
Referring to the constitutional guarantees and other welfare measures for the downtrodden sections of the society, Mula Ram said that Congress always formulated and implemented policies aimed at uplift of the poor and downtrodden sections of the society in order to integrate the society and ensure their participation in every sphere of life. He said that in the year of 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R Ambedkar it would be great tribute to the father of the Indian Constitution to give special attention to the welfare of the downtrodden sections by giving further attention to the schemes aimed at their uplift.
He said that Congress never compromised on its principles and on the question of maintaining harmony and did not indulge in short term political gains by exploitation of religious, regional, caste and linguistic sentiments of the people and cautioned the people against exploitations for vested political interests.
He said that the present government at the Centre and in the State should carry forward the developmental projects formulated and initiated by the previous government in view of the locational and other dis-advantages of Rajouri-Poonch Districts in order to further fulfill the developmental gaps in the region.
He said that the various developmental projects in different sectors were initiated by the liberal funding of the UPA Government to the State during past over ten years and there is need to further strengthened the developmental and other welfare measures in the area.
Choudhary Shahnawaz-General Secretary PCC, District President Poonch Sdr. Rajinder Singh Kaka, former VC Gujjar Bakerwal Board Ch. Bashir Naz besides other senior leaders of the party also attended the meetings.
