JAMMU: State Congress unit accused the PDP-BJP Coalition Government of failing to maintain peace and harmony and appealed to the people of the State to “live in unity”.
“The government has failed on all fronts, especially in maintaining peace and harmony and unity among the people of the State,” State Congress Chief, G.A Mir said during his visit to the frontier district of Rajouri.
Senior Vice President, Sham Lal Sharma, Vice President Mula Ram, Chief Spokesman Ravinder Sharma, Co-treasurer Rajnish Sharma, General secretaries Shabir Ahmed Khan and Th. Manmohan Singh also accompanied Mir and interacted with prominent leaders, senior citizens and took stock of current situation.
Mir alleged that the government had failed to bridge the gap between regions and communities which had widened further under the current regime. Mir urged the partymen to play the role of a unifying force and defeat the designs of communal and divisive forces that are hell bent on disturbing the communal harmony in the state.
In a statement issued here, he said it was the need of the hour to identity and isolated the anti-social elements who wanted to create a wedge between the people, taking advantage of the ongoing turmoil in the State.
Mir cautioned the people against the “designs of the inimical forces” from both “within and outside” and lauded the people of the border areas for maintaining peace and harmony at all costs and defending the unity and integrity of the State and the country against all odds.
Mir appealed to the party cadre to maintain a close rapport with the masses, especially those in the border areas, in
the wake of escalating tension along the International
Border (IB) and ceasefire violation by Pakistan from Nowshera to Poonch in the last couple of days.
