Conference on Recent Trends in Mathematical Sciences held at SMVDU

KATRA: A University Grant Commission (UGC) sponsored two-day National Conference on Recent Trends in Mathematical Sciences was organised by Department of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra.
At the outset Dr. A.K Das, Convener of the Conference explained the theme of the conference. Prof. C.K. Jaggi, Department of Operational Research, University of Delhi was the Chief Guest who stressed that mathematical analysis should lead to useful conclusions and delivered talk on Supply Chain Management.
Prof. V. Verma, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Prof. D.S Hooda, Ex. Pro-VC, K.U. Kurukshetra were the Guests of Honour.
They lauded the role of Mathematical Sciences in interdisciplinary research. Prof. Hooda emphasised on doing the mathematical work rather than reading it. Prof. C.B Gupta, Professor, BITS, Pilani was also present and talked about the diverse applications of mathematics.
The abstract booklet was released by the dignitaries on the inaugural ceremony. The inaugural session was ended by vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Organising Secretary of the conference.
Prof. D.S Hooda, Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Raina (Principal, GDC Thannamandi), Prof. C.B Gupta, Prof. Romesh Kumar (University of Jammu), Prof. V. Ravichandran (University of Delhi), Prof. K.L Verma (Dean, Career Point University, Hamirpur), and Dr. Kakali Majumdar (SMVDU) delivered their invited lectures in the conference. Prof. S.D Sharma (Central University, Jammu), Prof. J.P Singh Joorel (University of Jammu), and Prof. Pawan Kumar (University of Jammu) were also present in the conference and they acted as session chairs. Apart from invited lectures there were contributed paper presentations in the conference. Dr. Surender Singh and Dr. Sandeep Bhougal were the co-organising secretaries of the conference.
