JAMMU: The prestigious four-laning project of the Ramban-Banihal national highway, being executed to provide all-weather road connectivity to the Kashmir Valley, has become a casualty to rampant political interference. “The work on the treacherous Ramban-Banihal stretch of the highway is yet to pick up pace due to problems created by political workers,” State General Secretary Panthers Trade Union (PTU) Sewa Singh Bali, told reporters here on Friday.
Given the difficulties faced by the executing agencies, the road project is likely to get delayed, he said. The construction work has been obstructed by diverse departments like forest, revenue, leads to the lethargic developmental work, he said adding it resulted in the suffrage of public and besides company who are doing work.
He urged Governor of J and K State and Union Minister for National Highways to intervene in this matter and stop such kinds of illegal acts by different governmental agencies and four-lane project should be completed on time.
Bali also showed concern over the grave discriminatory policy of present State Government where SPOs form has been filled and candidates from Kashmir got joined in this service but the candidates from Jammu province still are waiting for their joining.
Parshotam Parihar, Naveen Bali Press, Sham Gorkha, Raj Kumar Jandyal, Ravinder Jamwal, Sanjay Kumar and Asha Rani were also present in the conference.
