JAMMU: Government SPMR College of Commerce today reached the final of inter-college cricket tournament and shall now take on equally good side of GGM Science College in the title clash to be held on a later date on the campus ground, here. In the second semifinal, played today, Commerce College outplayed Government MAM College by a margin of 25 runs.
Earlier, batting first, Commerce College made 156 runs for six wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sahil Mahotra played fine innings of 58 runs while Ajay and Subrat contributed 27 and 22 runs respectively. Harithik added 15 runs to the total. For MAM College, Rakshit took three wickets and Ashutosh bagged two.
In reply, MAM College could not maintain the required run rate and completed their innings for 134 runs losing five wickets. Yogesh was top scorer with 44 runs, followed by Varun (26), Sagar (16) and Zakir (17). Sahil Chowdhary emerged as most successful bowler from Commerce College securing three wickets. Rahat and Sahil Mahotra shared apiece each. Today’s semifinal was officiated by the technical penal including Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vijay Kumar and Raj Kumar Bakshi as umpires while Vinod was scorer.
