- CB’s New criminal laws exhibition concluded at Jammu, thousands participated

JAMMU: Three-day mega exhibition on new criminal laws organized by EOW Crime Branch Jammu concluded today with a grand closing ceremony where Special Secretary Home J&K UT, Ranjit Singh was present as the chief guest.
Over ten thousand persons from all walks of life including students, scholars, educationists, experts, probationary officers and knowledge-seeker officials of different departments participated in three days in the highly educative exhibition on NCL held first time at Jammu on the directions of MHA, Government of India and under the supervision of DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat IPS & IGP Crime J&K Sujit Kumar Singh IPS.
Special Secretary Home, Ranjit Singh in his address said that not only the implementing agencies, but also the people should be sensitized about the new criminal laws. Colonial laws have now been replaced with new criminal laws with the objective to give justice to the victims without inordinate delay and to bring perpetrators of crime to book using digital evidence in addition to documentary & oral evidence. Such kind of exhibitions would be organized at district levels as well. He appreciated the role of Crime Branch for organizing a mega exhibition in which all agencies concerned with implementation of new criminal laws on ground displayed their stalls showcasing their functioning & achievements.
SSP Benam Tosh, the nodal officer, has thanked the people, heads of schools, colleges, universities, media and sister agencies for providing full support to make this big event a great success.
Public is showering praises upon the government and police for organizing large scale informative exhibition.
Special guests present on the occasion, who were honoured by the chief guest included Deputy Director FSL Dr. Kumar Sourabh, Chief Prosecuting Officer Manmohit Sharma, Medical Officer SDH RS Pura Dr. Neha Manawar, Medical Officer SDH Bishnah Dr. Neetika Bharti, Medical Officer SDH Bishnah Dr. Faizan Choudhary, Principal Shauraya International School Dr. Swati Kapoor, SP South Jammu Ajay Sharma, Crime Record Bureau head Ms Sunnya Wani , SDPO East Sheezan Bhat and SHO Women Police Station Jammu Arti Thakur. The Crime Awareness Exhibition held in Jammu drew massive public interest as thousands of citizens, including students, thronged the venue to visit 17 informative stalls set up by various wings of the Jammu & Kashmir Police. Departments such as the Crime Wing, District Police, FSL, Cyber Police Station Jammu, Women Police, Fingerprint Bureau, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Special Crime Wing (SCW), Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), and Prosecution Branch actively participated, showcasing their respective roles and services to the public.
A highlight of the event was the stall presented by the Cybercrime Investigation Centre of Excellence (CICE), J&K, which was adjudged the best in overall presentation, technological integration, and public engagement. The stall, led by M.Y. Kichloo, received maximum footfall during the exhibition.
Public and students were given in-depth awareness on cybercrime redressal mechanisms, the role of CICE, and the functioning of various digital complaint portals, including the 1930 helpline.
In his visit to the stalls, Director General of Police (DGP) J&K commended the efforts of all participating units but described the CICE stall as “a stall worth visiting” for its outstanding arrangement, public interaction, and tech-enabled awareness tools.
A significant moment of the exhibition was the inauguration of the Cyber Help Desk exclusively for women, launched by the DGP in the presence of senior officers including ADGP Armed Anand Jain, IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti, IGP Crime Sujeet Kumar, DIG Doda-Jammu, DIG Traffic, and senior SSPs.
The exhibition concluded with IGP Crime, Sujeet Kumar, presenting the Best Presentation and Performance Award to M.Y. Kichloo, Head of CICE J&K, for his team’s exemplary efforts in cybercrime awareness and public engagement.
The CICE stall emerged as a major attraction, reinforcing J&K Police’s commitment to digital safety and public outreach in the fight against cybercrime.
