JAMMU: A brilliant batting display by Arya Sachivansh Thakur and Harsh Dev Singh helped Col RN Chopra Academy to reach in the finals of the ongoing Col R N Chopra Challenge Cup, played at IIIM CSIR Ground, here on Sunday.
Earlier, in first semifinal played on Sunday, Col RN Chopra Cricket Academy defeated UCC Udhampur by huge margin of 75 runs. UCC won the toss and opted to field first.
Batting first, Col RN Chopra Cricket Academy with the brilliant not out knocks by Harsh Dev Singh (56) and Arya Sachivansh Thakur (57) runs set a target of 194 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Aryan Gandral also contributed 44 valuable runs. For UCC, Avinash clinched took three wickets.
In reply, UCC Udhampur could not chase the target and whole side was bundled out of 119 runs in 19.1 overs. Bansal was the top scorer with 39 runs, while Aniket contributed 17 runs.
For Col RN Chopra Cricket Academy, Marutwan and Jugjap Singh were the wreckers-in-chief who scalped three wickets each by conceding 24 and 26 runs in 4 overs respectively.
Arya Sachivansh Thakur and Harsh Dev Singh were jointly bagged Man of the match award.
Today’s match was officiated by Academy’s Chief Coach Sukomal Ganguly and Assistant Coach Akash Manhas.
The Secretary of the Academy, Rakesh Bhasin lauded the efforts of the players and coaches for this superb performance.
