KUPWARA: Reaffirming commitment of their party to empower all regions and sub-regions of the State, leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said that residents of Jammu and Kashmir have high hopes on the coalition government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Addressing one day party convention at border town of Kupwara, PDP leaders said that it was result of the good governance of the previous PDP led coalition that there is realisation among all sections of the society that the present regime headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has the vision and commitment to address their aspirations.
Today’s convention was first convention which was organised in connection with the campaign of the party to reach out to the workers at grass-root level after the assembly polls. Party leadership has decided to reach out to the workers to address their grievances.
Education Minister, Naeem Akhtar, Rural Development Minister, Abdul Haq Khan, General Secretary of the party Nizamuddin Bhat, General Secretary Rafi Ahmed Mir, Fayaz Mir, MP, Yasir Rishi, Raja Aijaz Ali and others spoke in the convention which was attended by hundreds of party workers.
Speaking on the occasion, Nizamuddin Bhat regretted that previous NC led coalition regime had implemented lopsided development policy which resulted into backwardness and underdevelopment of some areas. “We will ensure equitable and balanced development”, he assured and exhorted the party workers to spread message to the party among masses.
Recalling historical steps taken by the previous PDP led coalition in the State, Bhat said that government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had proved its capability of changing life of the common masses by treating all individual equally and providing equal opportunities to all sections of the society.
Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary Rafi Ahmed Mir said that the coalition government will also address the concerns of the people living on the borders and those in the remote and far-flung areas of the State. He said that government is committed to formulate a comprehensive policy to ensure socio-economic growth of the residents of backward and far-flung areas.
