CM optimistic on opening of borders: Hamid

JAMMU: PDP leader, Abdul Hamid Choudhary said that prevailing peace on borders with Pakistan is a boon and the time must be utilised to break ice with Pakistan to work on opening of border points at various places and encourage people to people contacts. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, he added is also optimistic and working on the project to fulfill dreams of her father, Chief Minister late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Hamid said this is for the second time that Chief Minster has cared to visit border point at Chamliyal – a border area known for its socio-religious significance and opined to develop the place as a hub of a new movement for reconciliation in the region. Before 70s devotees from Pakistan were allowed to visit the shrine and offer payers, he said adding that the routine must be restored and people to people contacts encouraged.
Opening of borders with Pakistan at Suchetgarh-Sialkot, Kargil-Skardu, Nowshera-Mirpur and some other places as desired by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is also a good sign of removing trust deficit and building good relations with our neighbours on which the present CM Mehbooba Mufti is also working hard. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Choudhary Hamid added used to say that Suchetgarh would becoming J&K’s Wagah and every effort must be put in to realise that dream.
