CM meets media fraternity

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had an informal interaction with top editors and journalists representing leading print and electronic media, here on Sunday.

During the interaction, the media fraternity brought to the notice of the Chief Minister various issues pertaining to the electronic and print media especially regarding establishment of Press Colony and Press Club, Rationalization of State’s Advertisement Policy, fresh accreditation of journalists and empanelment of newspapers.

Mufti Sayeed assured the media-persons that he will get the issues examined for appropriate action. He said he will strengthen the Information Department by encouraging engagement of professionals from journalism and mass communication background.

To cater to the needs of the vernacular media in timely issuance of official press statements, especially Urdu and Hindi, the Chief Minister said he will strengthen the translation wings of the Information Department.

The Chief Minister also passed directions for strict compliance of circular instructions of the government for issuing all advertisements, including that of the Autonomous Institutions and PSUs, through the State Information Department.

Besides top editors and journalists representing the state, national and international media organizations, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B.B Vyas and Director Information, Muneer-ul-Islam, participated in the interaction.
