JAMMU: Stressing the need for closing all illegal meat shops in winter capital of State, which is also known as City of Temples, Shri Ram Sena (SRS) State President, Rajiv Mahajan cautioned the authorities to take urgent steps in this regard.
“It is surprising that State authorities have allowed opening of illegal meat shops in City of Temples in abundance thereby ‘causing hurt to religious sentiments’ of Hindus of Jammu as also to the visiting pilgrims,” Mahajan said in a statement here on Thursday.
“Jammu is a City of Temples. All illegally operating meat shops should be closed without any further delay. We are not against the consumption of meat but we firmly believe, none should be allowed to run illegal meat shops in the City of Temples,” he said.
He urged the BJP ministers in the State Government to play their positive role in closing down these illegal meat shops in the Temple City and shifting them outside the municipality bounds.
Urging like-minded parties to join this movement to rid Jammu city of meat shops, Shri Ram Sena State President also asked other political parties to come forward and to contribute their might in this ‘noble cause’. He also urged wholesale and retail meat dealers to extend their cooperation so that religious sentiments of minority community in Jammu and Kashmir are not hurt.
