 STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Commenting on the view of the concerned civil society that “Indian political class, including present Narendra Modi Government, has failed the people of Jammu province by pursuing Valley-centric policy and allowing situation to deteriorate in Kashmir by the day and that if the situation remained unchanged for some more time, we will be confronted with the 1990-like situation in Kashmir,” Prof Hari Om on Tuesday said that the brave people of Jammu region, especially the minorities, will fight out all secessionist and radical forces in the Valley like they did in the past and cleanse their land of Chenab and Tawi of all undesirable elements and regressive forces.
Prof Hari Om was referring to what transpired on Monday during a “marathon meeting” of many leading members of the civil society, including senior advocates, professors, ex-senior defence and police personnel and bureaucrats, where several issues, including the political future of Jammu province vis-à-vis India, came up for discussion.
“Issues like the prevailing political situation in the State, the negative role of the Kashmiri political class and separatists as well as Kashmiri civil society groups, New Delhi’s preferential treatment to Kashmir and its hostile attitude towards the nationalist people of Jammu province, political future of Jammu vis-à-vis India and what should the people of Jammu do to obtain a dispensation of their own choice came up for discussion during the meeting that lasted for more than five hours,” he revealed.
“We will not allow Kashmiri separatists and communalists and pro-autonomy and pro-self rule forces in Kashmir Valley to create a Kashmir-like situation in Jammu province; Jammu province belongs to India and India belongs to Jammu and we will very soon come out with a credible alternative to the class of opportunists, self-seekers and Kashmiri henchmen which has played havoc in the region was the upshot of the resolve of the important Monday meet,” Prof Hari Om further revealed.
“People of Jammu province have a glorious past and its future will also be glorious. They built the State in 1846 and established mighty Dogra Kingdom fighting splendidly and braving all odds, including the vagaries of nature. They are brave and self-respecting people. No power on earth can defeat them, as the Dogra history pre and post-1846 is replete with instances indicating their fighting spirit, spirit of sacrifice and their determination to hold their own against all odds, including the indifferent attitude of Indian political class towards them” said Prof Hari Om commenting on the resolve of Jammu civil society.
Prof Hari Om added that people of Jammu province resisted the Kashmiri onslaughts with full might and defeated their sinister break-India game-plans in the past, they will do the same in the future, as they are determined to not only stay put in their original homeland as proud Indians but also defend and promote further the paramount national interest in the sensitive border State of J and K. He warned the Jammu’s political leadership to read the writing on the ball and act accordingly. Any failure on their part to discharge their obligations towards the country and the suffering and neglected people of Jammu province will simply render it irrelevant and untouchable, he said, addeding that the patience of the people of Jammu region has added, which was quite visible from what different members of civil society spoke in the meet.
